You slipped away so quietly,
So unexpectedly it seemed
Like sand through my fingers,
So quietly, so quickly, like a dream.
If only I had known
Today would have been our last.
I would have held you just a little longer,
Loving and snuggling, till the day was past.
I would have told you
How much joy, your love fills my life.
Your silky fur & gentle ways
Helping to ease life's pains and strife.
Now holding so tight to all my memories,
Of our days together, you & I,
Missing you so much, little one,
Your picture I've kissed a thousand times.
Please keep watch over us, sweet little one,
As you've always done before
Till we meet again, Pain and sorrow done,
Together forever on that beautiful rainbow shore.
