In The DogHouse!

August 21st, 2011
Dr. Lisa Plaisance, Dr. Marisel San Miguel, Carrie Spivey, and Riley
It was a wonderful day yesterday at Rescue K911 as our own great vets, Dr. Lisa Plaisance, Dr. Marisel San Miguel, and Carrie Spivey of Dadeville Animal Clinic came to speak to our volunteers about common canine infectious diseases. They also took the time to tour our Rescue, and paused for us to get this great picture of them at the Shadow’s Rest Doghouse. It was a wonderful day!
“Thank you so much for taking such good care of all of our dogs!”

Shadow’s Rest – One Year Anniversary

Farmhouse - July 2010

Shadow's Rest - 2011

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since we started our Shadow’s Rest building project.  Month by month it has been nothing short of amazing to watch the transformation of this 100 year old vacant farmhouse into something so wonderful for the rescue dogs in our care. Your love, support and faith in us has made all the difference, turning this dream and home into a reality for our elderly and special needs dogs.

From the foundation to the rooftop – every part of Shadow’s Rest has been rebuilt and renewed.  We are now 80% complete and that homestretch lap is getting closer
 and within sight.
So much love and donated labor, blood, sweat and tears have already gone into building Shadow’s Rest, we know we will make it to completion. It would sure be wonderful to have our elderly dogs tucked inside before another cold winter arrives and to have Shadow’s Rest complete before year-end.

Thank you dear ones for all your help and for reaching out to help us with this most important project.
We couldn’t have done it without you!

Smokey Joe & Louise – Homecoming Day

August 7th, 2011

It was a heartwarming day as not only one of our rescued dogs, Smokey Joe was adopted but also Louise as well.  Thank you Dr. Lisa & Randy and family for opening your heart and home to two of our most precious dogs.  That they will bring you many years of love & happiness is our prayer. What a honor it is to all of us here at Rescue K911 that our own vets would choose our dogs to be their next furry family members! What a blessing! Thank you!

Kids In Christ bless Rescue K911

August 7th, 2011
Kids In Christ Youth Group

What a blessing it was to have the Kids In Christ Youth Group come to Rescue K911.  What a wonderful group of young people who came to help homeless dogs.  Not only did they arrive with their arms filled with cleaning supplies and toys and treats for the dogs –  but they also donated $320.00 in funds they raised  from selling lemonade.  What a blesssing! We can’t thank them enough – what a blessing to Rescue K911.  Please meet Channing Glenn, Hannah Glenn, Blake Sanders, Anna, Hayden & Dillon Walters – Wonderful kids in Christ!

“Thank you each one! Thanks also to Mom Tia!!! We sure hope you come back soon!”

The Heart of Rescue K911 – Our Volunteers

July 31st, 2011
The volunteers of Rescue K911
Larry and I wanted to introduce you to our best friends today.

They are the ones behind the scenes that do so much for us and the rescued dogs in our care…. they are our volunteers.  A wonderful group of friends that share our vision and want to help the homeless.
Each one means the world to us.

Caring for over 100 dogs is a big task and takes a dedicated team, and as you can see, Rescue K911 has been blessed with such a team.
We couldn’t do this work without them.
Coming from all walks of life and professions – there is one thing that binds us together and that we all have in common -  and that is the love for the dogs.

We are so proud to introduce them – aren’t they beautiful!!!!

Shadow’s Rest – June Update

July 1st, 2011

Painting Party at Shadow's Rest - June 25th

June has brought us pretty close to finishing up the exterior of Shadow’s Rest.  Now the work will mostly be on the inside from here on out.  In June we completed the  the exterior siding, painting and installation of front door. We had painting parties on the 4th & 25th which brought out an amazing group of friends wanting to help.  It has been so heartwarming! We’d like to thank everyone that has supported us and helped us get this far on Shadow’s Rest.  It means so much! Thank you each one!
