We’ve had alot of activity here at Shadow’s Rest this month.   The outside siding has been completed on the north, south & rear of building.  Front door has been ordered and will be installed before front siding can go on. Electric and rough plumbing has been completed on the inside. It is starting to all come together. We are getting close to that final stretch! We have dogs that spend more time on the front porch than anywhere else.  They are all being so patient while we work on their new home.

Spring is here!

 Here at Shadow’s Rest the majestic 200 year old oak tree is slowly awakening to notice a big change in its long time closest neighbor, this 100 year old farmhouse.  Once a broken down building, it is slowly transforming into a home for elderly and special needs dogs.  Built with love and care and now almost 60% complete – nothing short of amazing! During the month of March more work has been done on the inside than outside. Preliminary A/C duct work has gone in and now the electrical wiring is being installed.  It is all coming together. Progress has been a little slower than usual as financing has been a struggle, but we will keep on going as long as any funds come in.  Thank you each one so very much.  Donations are continuing to be matched which gives us all hope and courage to keep on going and not get discouraged. Look how far we’ve come! Thank you!

Snow on Shadow's Rest - February 2011

Snow sprinkles the ground and lines the roof in this February photo of Shadow’s Rest.  The windows have now all been installed, roof complete and workers are now installing A/C ducts inside.  We are so excited to see our dream come to life.

 Thank you each one for helping us along in this much needed home for our elderly dogs. We are again at the end of our funding, but have an exciting fundraiser coming up which will allow you, our wonderful supporters to become a forever part of Shadow’s Rest.  Stay tuned!

Shadow's Rest - January 2011

We continue to move right along with the construction of Shadow’s Rest and marvel at the transformation we have seen in only a few short months.  January has brought the framing of the front porch, brick around the foundation, and framing of the addition in the rear including the new grooming area and doggie room.  We can’t thank everyone enough for reaching out and helping us build this much needed home for our elderly and special needs dogs.

We also were blessed to learn this week that our wonderful private donor will again match funds given towards Shadow’s Rest in 2011 (up to $30,000 for the year).  We will never be able to thank them enough and each one of you for helping to make this dream come true! Thank you for helping the homeless!

Making Progress at Shadow's Rest

So much has been accomplished this month of November at Shadow’s Rest!

All the inside walls have been framed, and it has been so heartwarming to watch our little home for elderly dogs take shape.  Donnie Scott Construction continues to do a great job. A&O Tree Service came and trimmed our large Oak Tree  of branches that were hitting the roof and making safety a concern for the roofers.  The windows have been ordered and should be arriving soon.  The footers are just now being dug for the outside porch and new addition in the rear.  We are excited and the dogs are excited!

Our wonderful private donor continues to match dollar for dollar all that comes in 2010 for Shadow’s Rest.  With current construction costs  we are quickly reaching the end of available funds to continue. Can you please help us this Holiday Season?
